Mekmar is excited to share the Moore Project, a sophisticated residential interior in the USA that pushes the boundaries of traditional travertine design. By utilizing Classic Vein Cut Travertine in three distinct formats—planks, mosaics, and custom stair treads—the homeowners created a cohesive yet visually dynamic living space.
The Flooring Masterpiece: Travertine Herringbone
The standout feature of this project is the innovative use of travertine for the main flooring. While travertine is often laid in squares, the Moore Project opted for a contemporary twist:
- Format: 20 x 80 x 1.5 cm "plank" tiles.
- Layout: Herringbone Style. This rhythmic, geometric pattern elongates the rooms and highlights the linear movement of the vein-cut stone.
- Finish: Filled & Polished, providing a high-gloss, luxurious reflection across the 250 m² area.
Artistic Staircase Design
The staircase was designed as a central focal point, combining functionality with intricate detail:
- Stair Treads: Mekmar produced 100 custom-sized pieces of Classic Vein Cut Travertine to ensure a perfect fit for each step.
- Decorative Risers: For a unique textural contrast, 50 m² of 2.3 x 2.3 cm Classic Travertine Mosaics were applied to the stair risers. This adds a "jewelry-like" detail to the staircase that catches the eye from the hallway.
Seamless Bathroom Coordination
To maintain design continuity, the Classic Vein Cut Travertine was extended into the bathrooms. The vertical veins of the stone were used on the walls to create a spa-like atmosphere that feels both organic and modern.
